Not Quite Sky explores the dynamic between the earth and the sky, the significance placed upon them, and how subtle changes in perspective can alter our perception of their meanings. In this work, I explore the relationships between the seen and the unseen, the dream and the reality, the remembered and the forgotten. I am investigating the landscape and how it relates human relationships, memory, and personal spirituality. Inspired by the cloud formations while flying from my native Indiana to the state of Minnesota, and interpreted through the study of color and light, these paintings present the landscape as being not quite earth and not quite sky.
